We're hiring in Kampala and remote-East-Africa for engineering, research, and customer success. If you've watched African tour operators struggle with foreign sales tools and think "there's a better way," we want to meet you.

How we work

Office in Kampala. Most of the team works from a shared office a 10-min walk from Garden City. Engineers and writers can be remote within East Africa time zones.
UGX-denominated comp + USD bonus. Base salary in UGX (so you're not exposed to currency drift), performance bonus + equity in USD.
No bullshit titles. Everyone uses their actual function. "Senior" means seniority, not seniority theatre.
Honest about being early. We're a real startup. Things break. Customers occasionally email at 11pm. If that sounds bad to you, this isn't your stage.

Senior Researcher / VA team lead

Kampala (office) · Full-time

Manage a team of 3-5 researchers verifying US/UK travel-agent contacts. You're the line between Karibu's reputation and a customer's first impression.

·3+ years in research, journalism, or business-intelligence roles
·Working knowledge of the global travel industry (familiarity with WTM, Indaba, USTOA helpful)
·Native or near-native English; written communication that wouldn't embarrass a US agency
·Comfortable with Google Sheets, Notion, basic database concepts

Customer success — East Africa

Kampala / Nairobi / remote within EAT · Full-time

First point of contact for new customers in their 14-day trial. Run the founder-onboarding calls, debug Gmail OAuth issues, talk via WhatsApp at strange hours.

Senior product engineer (full-stack)

Remote (East Africa time zone) · Full-time

Build features that ship. Next.js + Supabase + Postgres + Anthropic API. We're a small team, you'll touch every layer including the AI prompts.

·5+ years building production web apps; ideally led at least one product 0→1
·Comfortable with Postgres, Drizzle, RLS, server actions
·Has shipped AI-powered features (LLMs, embeddings, vector search) — even small ones
·Bias for shipping useful things over architectural perfection

Growth writer / content lead

Remote · Contract → full-time

Write the Karibu blog, the Growth Informer newsletter pieces about African tourism, and the case studies. You don't need to be African — you need to be obsessed with the industry.

·Has written and published 30+ B2B pieces (newsletter, blog, magazine)
·Travel industry experience strongly preferred
·Strong opinion on the difference between sponsored content and editorial
·Can interview operators and turn a Zoom call into a publishable piece
